My autistic son's regular hair salon is at Pelangi Hairdressing. The people here are very good and kind with my son. He will always tend to runaway in any other salon, but with them he is more confident & less afraid. We go there to hair cut since he was 5 years old, and my whole family gets their haircut there as well. At Pelangi hair salon, they took time and did not force my son, allowing him to rest while they wait. He was allowed to sit at the high chair, and they will go to the waiting chair to cut his hair. In the beginning, my son did not allow the electronic hair razor to cut hair, so they used scissors only for him. Now he is able to tolerate the hair razor. He also did not allow them to cover him with cloth at the beginning, but now he is able to as well. Not only this, they are afraid that the blower for other customers will affect him, and asked if it was ok for them to use it. I was really touched by that. So I try to desensitise my son with hair dryer sounds at home, before they use the hair dryer and blower. It is all because of their love & patience & understanding that my son is able to get his haircut smoothly and safely there. I am always thankful to them.
